Liverpool would struggle to finish Top 4 without Gerrard and Torres

This may be obvious to most of you but I have to have my say on this. Many pundits and fans have been saying in recent weeks that Liverpool are not the same force without Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard and I tend to agree with that.

The pair have been responsible for more than half of Liverpool's 32 goals this season and I feel if either of them pick up an injury between now and the end of the season, they may struggle to qualify for the Champions League.

Torres has been awesome since joining the Reds, scoring an impressive 16 goals. Gerrard as we all know is the captain and the driving force behind the Liverpool side. So the question is, do you agree or disagree.

Chelsea to splash out £45 million on Valencia striker and Sevilla defender

According to today's Daily Mirror, Chelsea are set to bid for Valencia striker David Villa and Sevilla defender Dani Alves.

The pair have long been linked with moves to the Premier League and Chelsea's name has popped up time and time again.

Alves was said to be close to a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer but nothing ever materialised and Villa has always spoken of his dream to play in the Premier League.

It is believed Chelsea manager Avram Grant will have to splash out £45 million for the pair. Chelsea have been linked with numerous strikers in the last month or so with Anelka and Berbatov suppose to be the two main targets but Villa may turn out to be a better option.

Both players in my view are quality. I feel if Chelsea were to remain with the same side as they have at the moment they will struggle to challenge for the league but if they were to sign these two they would definitely be a major force in the closing months.
