England squad named

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has been called up to Sven Goran Eriksson's 24 man England squad for their next two World Cup qualifiers. Arsenal's Sol Campbell has also been recalled to the squad and so has Man United striker come midfielder Alan Smith. Owen Hargreaves has missed out through injury and there is no places for Scott Parker, Emile Heskey and Danny Murphy. England play Austria on Saturday the 8th of October and they play away to Poland four days later.

Squad in full: Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Robert Green (Norwich), Chris Kirkland (West Brom); Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Phil Neville (Everton), Luke Young (Charlton), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), John Terry (Chelsea), Sol Campbell (Arsenal), Ledley King (Tottenham); David Beckham (Real Madrid), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham), Alan Smith (Man Utd), Kieran Richardson (Man Utd); Michael Owen (Newcastle), Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Darren Bent (Charlton), Peter Crouch (Liverpool).

No surprises really in the team but I didn't really expect Alan Smith to be recalled so soon after he had the falling out with Sven. Sol Campbell deserves to be back into the squad after his injury a because he has played well since he has come back from injury for Arsenal.
