James extends stay at City

Manchester City goalkeeper David James has been rewarded for his fine form of late with a one year contract extension. His contract was due to run out at the end of this season but City have decieded to keep for at least another year. The former West Ham keeper has had a mixed season with his performances for City in stark contrast with his international form, which has seen him pushed out of the England squad. "His form over the last two years has prompted me to sit down and say, 'Where do I get a better goalkeeper than David James?'" Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce told the club website. "For me he's in the top six goalkeepers in The Premiership.


"In some ways he's played a big part in our defensive record over the last couple of years, and I fully expect that to go on for the duration of his contract. "He's a very fit boy for his age, there's not an ounce of fat on him, he's professional in his manner and outlook, and he just wants to do well, so it's a just reward for that. James has played 65 times for City since joining the club for £2 million from West Ham United in January 2004.

This is good news for Man City fans because James has been outstanding in the last two seasons. It is also good news for him because I believe that Man City are the kind of club that suit him. James always seems to play well for City but he just can't play well for his country (England). David James is now 36 years old but he still has a few good years left in him.
