According to the Daily Star Sunday, Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is lining up a £5 million move for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Julio Baptista. The player who of course used to play for North London rivals, Arsenal, is apparently high on the Spurs boss January shopping list.
Baptista of course used to play under Ramos at Sevilla and he may be interested in a move back to London due to the lack of first team football this season at the Spanish giants. He joined Arsenal in a loan exchange with Jose Antonio Reyes but Arsenal declined against making the deal permanent.
Baptista is a very strong midfielder and I think although he didn't do amazingly well at the Gunners I think he may be able to do a job for Spurs. I think £5 million sounds a pretty reasonable price for the 26-year old. Tottenham may face competition for Baptista's signature from Portuguese side Benfica come the January transfer window.
