According to today's Daily Mirror, Aston Villa defender is being chased by Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus. Mellberg has long been linked with a move away from Villa Park and with his contract due to expire in the summer both Juve and AC are very keen to snap him up.The Sweden international has apparently held talks with Villa boss Martin O'Neill but they couldn't come to any agreement and O'Neill said : "I've spoken to Olof but we've decided to leave things for a while." Mellberg has been a terrific servant to Villa and it would be a shame to see him leave the Premier League.
It is no surprise to me that sides like AC and Juve are showing an interest because he's a quality player. What would be even worse for Villa would be that they got no money out of Mellberg because I feel he's worth a few bob.
