Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton is set to miss the next two months of the Premier League season with knee ligament damage. Barton picked up the injury during his side's 2-2 draw at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon after a challenge by Latics Lee Cattermole.The 26-year old only recently returned to the Newcastle fold after a suspension handed to him by the FA for his involvement in a training ground bust-up with former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo. Barton said: "I am not blaming Lee in any way. It was a 50-50 ball and we both went for it, these things happen ... It's disappointing and frustrating. My sole intention is to knuckle down and bounce back and get fit again."
Magpies interim-manager Joe Kinnear will now have to do without one of his best midfield players until at least next year which will no doubt come as a big blow. This really couldn't of come at a worse time for Joey. He has just come back into the team and in fairness he looked as though he was settling in well but unfortunately for him he picks up this injury. Ah well, maybe he deserves it for being such a scum bag.
