According to today's Daily Express, Sunderland are planning to make a bid for Middlesbrough captain George Boateng.
The reports come after Boateng's agent admitted that there was interest from three or four Premier League clubs and it is now believed Sunderland are one of those clubs.
Boateng, 32, joined Boro back in 2002 from Aston Villa and has been a key figure in the side. He signed a new three-year deal at the club back in 2006 but there it seems as though he is now falling out of favour with Gareth Southgate.
I feel Boateng would be a terrific signing for Roy Keane. He has a lot of the attributes of Keane and I think he would be turn out to be of vital importance in Sunderland's fight for survival.
