According to several reports today, Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Hertha Berlin defender Gilberto.The player had previously been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United but nothing ever materialised from that rumour.
The 31-year old is said to be very keen on a move to England and with Spurs in the market for a new defender Gilberto definitely fits the bill.
I have rarely seen Gilberto but I hear he is a very good player and is very capable of playing for a top side like Spurs. He has played and scored in football's top tournament, the World Cup and I feel would be a good addition to a Spurs side that really needs a few defenders.
