Derby County have today joined the race to sign Robbie Savage from Blackburn after Paul Jewell admitted he would love to bring him to Pride Park.
This comes after weeks of uncertainty over Savage's future at Ewood Park and with interest from Wigan, Sunderland and Fulham it is still unclear where the Welsh midfielder's future lies.
"I'd like to have Robbie, and I've spoken to Blackburn, but whether we can do it is out of my hands," said Jewell."We've not yet agreed a fee, so it's up to the chairman if we can do a deal."
Sunderland had a bid rejected for Savage earlier in the week and Mark Hughes has said that he would have no problems in keeping the 33-year old if his valuation of the player isn't met.
I feel if Savage had the choice he should join Sunderland because he would be working under a very similar type of player to himself in Roy Keane. I think Keane would get the best out of Savage and he might be a big influence on Sunderland's Premier League survival.
