CCTV footage of West Ham centre half, Anton Ferdinand, allegedly hitting a man outside a nightclub, has today been shown to a jury, in a case which the 22 year old denies charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.The prosecution claims that in the footage the West Ham defender is seen in a brawl outside Faces nightclub in Ilford, east London, in October 2006. However the Hammers number 5 claims he acted in self-defence, in fear that he would be robbed of his £64,000 watch.
Prosecutor Alex Agbamu said alleged victim Emile Walker was attacked by a group of men including the defendant. He insists that one of a group of men began kicking him and that he was punched enough force to loosen one of his teeth.
As England centre half and brother, Rio, looks on in the stands, it will be a while yet before a verdict is reached in what is to me, a case which has been ignored by the media. Do you really think Anton Ferdinand is the type of person that would assault someone ???
