Liverpool star considers future at the club

Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia has today admitted he will consider his future after been left out Rafa Benitez' plans for the Champions League. The Finland international has been omitted from the club's 25-man panel for the Champions League group stages, weeks after the club rejected an offer from Stoke City for the player.

Hyypia, 34, said : "The manager's decision to leave me out of the squad is a big disappointment. "I understand it's partly because of the Uefa regulations, but the news came as a surprise to me and a shock too." Hyypia has spent over nine years at the club, making 446 appearances in the process and now doubt this will come as a big surprise to the Reds fans.

I can't really understand this. If Benitez wasn't going to include the Finn in his 25-man panel, which clearly means he is not part of the Spaniard's plans, then why didn't he cash in on him during the summer. It's sad, but this could be the end of Hyypia's days at Anfield.

Here is the 25-man panel for Liverpool in full:

Cavalieri, Reina, Dossena, Agger, Aurelio, Arbeloa, Carragher, Degen, Darby, Kelly, Irwin, Skrtel, Gerrard, Reira, Alonso, Benayoun, Pennant, Mascherano, Leiva, Spearing, Keane, Torres, Kuyt, Babel, Ngog
