Liverpool have today completed the signing of Tottenham striker Robbie Keane for a fee that could rise to £20 million. The Republic of Ireland international has been linked with a move to Anfield for weeks now after Rafa Benitez admitted his interest in the player, whilst Keane expressed his interest to join the club.Keane, 28, has played for Inter Milan, Wolves, Coventry, Leeds and Spurs in a career which has seen the Dubliner score more than 160 goals in all competitions. Benitez had made it clear that he was desperate to sign a new striker after the departure of Peter Crouch earlier this month to Portsmouth.
I personally feel Keane is a terrific signing, however I feel £20 million is a bit much to be paying for a 28-year old. He will no doubt score a lot of goals at Liverpool and will get the fans hopes up of maybe lifting the Premier League trophy come the end of May, but I don't think that is really going to happen.
