Spurs to step up efforts for £15 million England ace

Tottenham are to step up their efforts to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley after weeks of speculation over the players future. Bentley has been linked with several moves away from Ewood Park after admitting he wanted to leave the club to fulfil his European ambitions.

New Rovers boss Paul Ince is desperate to hold onto the England international who has been one of Rovers top performers over the past few years. He joined the club back in 2006 after leaving Arsenal for a fee believed to be just a £1 million. It is thought now that Spurs boss Juande Ramos is will splash out the £15 million price-tag placed on Bentley by Blackburn.

If the 23-year old were to arrive at White Hart Lane during this transfer window that will undoubtedly see Aaron Lennon heading for the exits with Everton a likely destination. Bentley would be a superb signing for a promising looking Spurs side that could well challenge for a top four birth next season, provided they hold onto their star players like Berbatov and Keane.
