Manchester United defender, Gerard Pique has today been linked with a move to Spanish side Atletico Madrid according to the mirror. The player who scored in United's 4-0 win over Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday has impressed Atletico and they are said to be very keen on securing a loan deal for the Spanish under-20 captain.Pique's current United deal runs out in 2009 and his representatives believe United may sell the player. The 20 year old was signed by United in July of 2004 from Barcelona and has since then been on loan at Spanish side Real Zaragoza. Pique made his Premier League debut in October 2005 when he came on for John O'Shea in United's 3-1 victory over Sunderland.
I think it would be a shame to see Pique leave the Premier League because he is only starting to get played at Old Trafford and in my opinion he has real potential. He can play at right or centre back and I think he may be a long term replacement for Gary Neville at the Red Devils. I'm not sure how much it would cost Atletico to sign him on a permanent deal but I wouldn't sell for anything under £6 million.
