Ipswich Town boss Jim Magilton has today confirmed that he approached Portsmouth with the possibility of taking out-of-form striker David Nugent loan until the end of the season.
The England international has failed thus far to settle at pompey and has hardly figured for the side this season leading to reports of a possible move to the Championship with several side including Preston and Ipswich said to be interested.
Nugent, 22, moved to Pompey during the summer from Preston for a fee belived to be in the region of £6 million and has scored just twice for the club, both in cup competitions."Nugent is a possibility," Magilton told the Ipswich Evening Star. "We have asked Portsmouth about taking him on loan and they have not ruled it out.
"We are well aware if he did come he is not at 100%, but he is making massive strides to get fit, so we will wait and see what happens. "He loves Portman Road and he loves scoring goals here, so it would be good to have him in a Blues shirt."
I feel it would be for the best for Nugent to move to Ipswich and starting scoring goals again in the Championship. Many people thought when he was at Preston that he would be a terrific goalscorer in the Premier League but so far that hasn't been the case.
