According to reports in Sunday's News of the World, Newcastle United are planning a £10 million bid for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.The England international has been linked with several moves away from the Riverside after he was quoted as saying he would not sign a new contract at the club.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate has said he will do everything in his power to tie down the 23-year old to a new contract but many feel Downing will be on his way to either Tottenham or Newcastle.
I am pretty sure Downing will leave Boro in the summer but I am not sure who he will join. I think Spurs would be a better move for Downing but I also think Newcastle may be able to persuade him with a little thing called money.
