Three clubs chasing villa striker

Celtic face competition from two other clubs if they are to sign Shaun Maloney, according to the player’s agent. And agent John Halliwell warned Gordon Strachan that he has to make an official offer soon if he wants to get things moving before the September 1 deadline.(The Daily record)

“Aston Villa haven’t accepted a bid from anyone so unless that happens I will do nothing,” Halliwell told The Daily Record.“If that happens then the final piece of the jigsaw is for me and the player to discuss a move to that club.“I have been contacted by people on behalf of clubs but I have told them if they are interested they have to agree a fee with Villa.“Three clubs have asked if he is available because they want to talk to him but they have to come to an agreement with Martin O’Neill first.”

Personally I feel Maloney made a huge mistake in leaving Celtic. He was getting first-team football and scoring regularly, something which hasn't happened at Villa. A move back to Glasgow may be just what the young striker needs.
