Carrick injured in League Cup defeat

Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick is set to miss the next two weeks of the season after he picked an ankle injury in his sides 1-0 defeat to Grimsby in the Carling Cup second round. Spurs coach Martin Jol has now confirmed that his midfield ace will not play for two weeks. "Michael Carrick twisted his ankle in a bad way - I've seen it on video again," said Jol."Thankfully he's recovering quickly but I think it will take a couple of weeks. "So we'll have to play with a new midfield again against Fulham but at least we have five days to prepare for that game."

This is a blow for Carrick and for Tottenham because Carrick would have been looking to impress England boss Sven Goran Eriksson ahead of Englands next two World Cup qualifiers, it is also a big blow for Tottenham because Carrick is vital in their midfield, but I think Jenas and Davids will do just fine together. I was very surprised Tottenham lost last night because they had a pretty strong squad out but they just weren't up for it.
