Reading's Kevin Doyle and Wigan's David Connoly have both been selected in Brain Kerr's 24 Ireland squad for their next two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Switzerland. A first international call up for Doyle who has scored three goals for Reading since signing for them in the summer from Irsih league side Cork City. Ireland boss Brian Kerr was quoted as saying "I've watched Kevin at various levels including for the under-21's and I have seen him this season for Reading." "He has maintained a high level of performance and I am obviously serious about bringing him in."
Wigan striker David Connoly has been recalled for the first time since 2003 by Kerr who must prepare for the match against Cyprus without suspened duo Andy Reid and Clinton Morrison.
