United still in for Obi

Manchester United still remain determined to bring John Obi Mikel to Old Trafford from Norwegian side Lyn. In what has been the most protracted transfer of the summer, the latest news coming from the player's current club, Lyn, is that as far as United are concerned the original agreement will be fulfilled. Mikel signed for United in April but then claimed he had been bullied into the move and that he would rather join Chelsea.

Fifa became involved after negotiations reached an absolute impasse, where after a lengthy investigation, the 19-year-old was ordered to return to Norway. Lyn director Morgan Andersen has indicated that United fully expect to have their latest signing delivered in the New Year.

Obi claims he was forced to sign for United

Andersen also continued to reiterate that Lyn have now built bridges with Mikel's agent, John Shittu, and that they are keen to welcome back their stay-away star. "I can confirm that I have been in touch with Manchester United,'' Andersen told VG. ''They want Mikel after the New Year, as it is stipulated in the contract. "But now he shall fulfill the season with us. We are happy for that.

"In any case, the fight is over on my part. I am prepared for a fair and honourable relationship.''He (Shittu) is welcome to the training ground as long as he doesn't disturb our work."We will have to talk to Mikel when he comes to work. "It's obvious that we need to hold meetings. We will take them when it is feasible, considering the training sessions and other things."

This transfer should have been done ages ago but sadly the tale still goes on. From what I have heard Obi Mikel is a good player and that is why there has been so much intrest in him by European clubs. Obi Mikel is only 19 years old and I would like to see how he fairs in the Premiership.
