Tottenham have tonight become the first team to book their place in the 4th round of the FA Cup. Harry Redknapp's men beat Steve Bruce's Wigan 3-1 at White Hart Lane to see them safely into the draw for the next round on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs took the lead just minutes into the second-half when Roman Pavlyuchenko slotted home a penalty after substitute Fraizer Campbell had been taken down in the box. Wigan tried desperately to grab the equaliser, however, Luka Modric doubled the home side's lead with fifteen minutes left on the clock.
The Croatian international manages to head into the Wigan net after Jamie O'Hara saw his left-footed shot smack off the post. Wigan did make Spurs in the closing minutes when Henri Camara struck past Heurelho Gomes from all of ten yards. The visitors pushed for an equaliser in the dying seconds, but they paid for putting too many men forward.
Pavlyuchenko grabbed his second of the night with a lovely strike from 25-yard's out, however the Wigan keeper may feel he should have done better. Good result for Spurs. In truth the result never looked in doubt and although Bruce may feel a little hard done by, Spurs deserved to go through.
