Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has today been linked with a move to Championship side Norwich City. The player who has fallen out of favour at St. James' Park is said to be frustrated at the lack of first team football coming his way and Norwich boss Glenn Roeder is keen to sign the player.Ameobi, who of course used to work under Roeder at Newcastle, has only started one Premier League game all season and is almost sure to leave the club in January.
Roeder refused to name his man but said: “He’s a real Premiership player but his manager doesn’t fancy him.” Ameobi is fourth in pecking order for a starting place at the Magpies behind Martins, Owen and Viduka.
Ameobi is not a Premier League player, simple as that. He hasn't got the quality to play in the league and is not a surprise to see him on the bench every week. I think he would be more at home in the Championship and I feel he should join Norwich and try and start scoring goals again, a bit like James Beattie is doing at Sheffield United.
