Hammers and Spurs battle it out for £10 million Brazilian star

Both Tottenham and West Ham are interested in making bids for Lyon striker Fred according to his agent.

Fred has found it hard to nail down a first team place at the club since the start of this season and he and the club are apparently willing to go their separate ways.

One of his agents, Francis Mello, revealed that there is English interest in Fred. "Sao Paulo and Santos are attracted, but Fred wants to go on in Europe," he told France Football.

"Two English sides have the means to pay the transfer fee asked by Lyon (which is believed to be near £10million), which is important as l'OL doesn't want a loan yet. "Now he has perfectly recovered form his injuries, Fred wants to play again to join back with Selecao [the Brazil national side] as soon as possible."

Fred impressed during last season's Champions League and both Alan Curbishley and Juande Ramos are both said to be very keen on bringing the 24-year old to their respective clubs. I would really love to see Fred play in the Premier League and I think he'd do a great job for either side.
