Liverpool move for £18 million Crouch replacement

Liverpool are planning to make an £18 million bid for Tottenham striker Robbie Keane in order to replace Peter Crouch, who is to join Portsmouth later this week. Keane admitted last week that if Liverpool were to make a move for him he would be very interested as he supported the club as a boy. (Daily Post)

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is keen to bring Keane to Anfield as soon as possible to replace a Crouch and he is willing to pay as much as £18 million to convince Spurs to sell. Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is keen to hold onto Keane, who is widely regarded as one of the clubs finest players, and with the possible departure of Dimitar Berbatov, they may have no strikers left at White Hart Lane before long.

One thing you can promise with Keane is goals. He has scored bag fulls of goals wherever he has been and I personally feel he would be a terrific signing for Liverpool. He averages just under a goal every other game for Ireland and has scored over 100 goals for Spurs in just over 250 games.
