Spurs move for Russian ace, and it's not Arshavin

Tottenham are today preparing an £11 million move for Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. The Russian international starred in his countries terrific European Championship which saw Russia reach the semi-finals. (Mail on Sunday)

Spurs have also been linked with Pavlyuchenko's national team-mate, Andrei Arshavin, but it is now thought that Spurs are also keen on Pavlyuchenko coming to White Hart Lane. The 26-year old has been linked with several of Europe's top clubs including Scottish Champions Celtic. He was named in the 23-man team of Euro 2008 leading to intense speculation over his future at Spartak.

Pavlyuchenko would be superb signing for Spurs and would provide excellent cover for Man United bound Dimitar Berbatov. He has scored over 70 goals during his time at Spartak and is referred to as many English fans as the man who ruined summer (referring to Pavlyunchenko's double against England last October in the European Championship qualifiers).
