Manchester United are today preparing a £20 million bid for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian international is likely to leave Spurs this summer after Juande Ramos admitted last month that he may not be able to hold onto this summer.
The 27-year old was linked with a move to the Premier League Champions in January but for whatever reason nothing ever materialised. Now Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to start some serious spending this summer and Berbatov is among his top targets. Berbatov has been at White Hart Lane for over two years now becoming an instant fan favourite at the club.
I would not be at all surprised to see Berbatov at Old Trafford next season. United will have to rebuild if Cristiano Ronaldo does eventually leave and I feel a signing like Berbatov would ease some of the United fans pain. This is obviously bad news for Spurs considering another striker, Robbie Keane could also be on his way out of the club.
