Bolton and Sunderland chase £4 million Rovers ace

According to various papers today, both Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland are interested in Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts, who is almost certain to leave the club in January.

Roberts once again staked his claim for a place in Mark Hughes' starting eleven on Sunday when he scored Rovers' winner away against Bolton to earn his side three valuable points in the race for a UEFA Cup spot.

Roberts, 29, joined Rovers back in 2006 after spending a very successful spell at Wigan. Roberts has made over 25 appearances for Blackburn but has failed to nail down a first team place which has led to him asking for a transfer.

I feel Roberts would be a decent addition to either of the sides interested. I feel he may opt for Bolton, simply because he wouldn't have to move house. It is likely that whoever wants to sign Roberts will have to splash out as much as £4 million.
