Magpies track Rangers defender and Liverpool striker

According to today the Telegraph, Newcastle are chasing Rangers defender Alan Hutton and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch.
New Magpies manager Kevin Keegan is keen on bringing the pair to the club to bolster his options after taking over last Wednesday.

Peter Crouch was supposedly told last month that he could leave the club for £10 million but with Dirk Kuyt and Andriy Vorinin misfiring at the club Benitez may want to hold onto the England international.

Hutton was very close to joining Juande Ramos' Tottenham earlier this month after Rangers agreed to sell him for £9 million but the Scotland international failed to agree personal terms.

I feel both would be good signings for the club especially Hutton due to Newcastle's poor defensive record this season. Crouch would also be a good addition to Keegan's side who really need a player who can score 15 or 20 goals a season.
