According to various papers today, Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell is close to joining Sunderland for the rest of the season.The former Reading star has, unsurprisingly, failed to nail down a first team place at Stamford Bridge and Roy Keane is willing to give him a chance at Sunderland.
Sidwell, 25, has only made 10 appearances for the Londoners this season, most of which have come as a substitute. Many people questioned Sidwell's decision to leave Reading at the end of last season and it is clear now he made a huge mistake.
I feel Sidwell would be a good addition to a Sunderland side who will inevitably be in a relegation battle. After missing out on Robbie Savage last week it is no surprise Keane is looking at Sidwell and I think a deal of some sort will be done.
