Spurs striker not leaving the club and the club are not in market for another front man

Tottenham Sporting Director, Damien Comolli has today said that Spurs striker Darren Bent is not for sale after weeks of speculation about his future and also confirmed the club are not in the market for another striker.

Bent has struggled to nail down a first team place at White Hart Lane after joining the club in the summer for a fee of £16 million for Charlton.

Bent arrived at Tottenham as a proven goalscorer but for whatever reason it hasn't worked out at Spurs. Bent has three England caps to his name but no goals.

"The majority of the reports that I have read are completely wide of the mark," Comolli told Tottenham's official website. "I feel it is important to clarify a couple of things that are unhelpful - namely that reports that Darren Bent is for sale are totally inaccurate and, furthermore, we are not in the market for any strikers."

I am quite surprised by these comments by Comolli. I felt Spurs would be looking to offload Bent in January, what with him being crap and stuff. Obviously these comments rule out the possible arrival of Fred to the club but it appears as though Defoe will be on the way out of the Lane.
