It has been reported today that Sven Goran Eriksson is closing in on Shakhtar Donetsk striker Nery Castillo and Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka.It had been widely speculated yesterday that City had completed the year long loan signing of Castillo after his agent confirmed there had been an agreement with City.
The agent claimed that the original deal was a year long loan deal with an option of a permanent deal at the end of the loan spell.
It has been no secret in recent weeks that Sven has been on the look out for strikers, with that position probably the only part of his side that is letting him down at the moment. He has been linked with dozens of front men in recent week inc Michael Owen and Peter Crouch.
On the Anelka rumour, Eriksson said yesterday that "Anelka has everything you can wish from a striker - quality, technique, pace, goals and he is big and strong," "He has done well at any club he has played for. He is a fantastic player."
I think both players would be terrific signing for City and I think if they were to sign the pair they would definitely be very very strong contenders for a top 6 finish.
