It has been reported in several newspapers today that Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is getting close to signing Newcastle striker Michael Owen.
The England striker has been plagued by injury since joining the side back in 2005 and has been rumoured to be looking for a move away from Newcastle.
Eriksson, who of course managed Owen whilst England manager, has been linked with dozens of strikers in recent weeks and months after it has become apparent that his City side are short a front man.
Owen's name has popped up on more than one occasion and the papers are saying that he has won the race to sign Owen.
Owen, 27, joined Newcastle from Real Madrid for a massive £16 million, a figure that is likely to be somewhat decreased if he is to leave the club with many papers claiming £8 million is the fee that will see Owen join City.
As a City fan myself I would of personally preferred Sven to look at someone else because with Owen, he is always likely to get injured. Having said that, I also feel that he is a good signing at £8 million because of his terrific international record, scoring 40 goals in just 88 games.
