Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has urged fellow countryman Xabi Alonso to join him at the Emirates. The Liverpool midfielder has been linked with a £16 million move to the Gunners in recent weeks after it became clear that Rafa Benitez may have to sell the Spaniard to sign Gareth Barry.
"Xabi is my friend of course, but apart from that he is a great player," Fabregas said in The People. "He has won the Champions League and won a European Championship - and he is only 26." Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to bring in another midfielder after selling Alexander Hleb earlier this summer.
I personally feel Alonso would be a magnificent signing for Arsenal. I think he could form a superb partnership with Fabregas in the heart of the Gunners midfield and at £16 million would prove to be good value for money.
