Liverpool take the three points and will be rightfully delighted with that, but the worry will be that it took a moment of individual brilliance to break the deadlock after they struggled to break Sunderland down.
What a strike from it was though from Torres. Alonso played an excellent ball through to the striker, who steadied himself in space and buried it in from 20 yards out. Gordon was well positioned but still found himself beaten at the near post.
Liverpool will be delighted to take full points from this game and in truth they probably deserverd but it was a less then convincing performance from Benitez's side.
