Newcastle United are preparing a £12 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda. The French international has struggled at Stamford Bridge ever since his £15 million move from Lyon last summer. (Mail on Sunday)
The 28-year old arrived at the Blues as one of the most highly rated wingers in Europe but unfortunately for him and the club, it hasn't really worked out. Kevin Keegan is ready to make Chelsea a teasing offer which Luis Fillipe Scolari may well be tempted to accept.
I'm not really sure Malouda is the right man for Newcastle. At Lyon I felt he was a quality player who would make a great signing for anyone in the Premier League but I have since found that he is simply an average player who is worth nowhere near the £15 million Chelsea paid for him or indeed the £12 million Newcastle may pay.
