Tottenham are preparing a move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen as a replacement to the Manchester United bound Dimitar Berbatov. The former Liverpool star has had a torrid time with injury since arriving at St James' Park almost three years ago. (Sunday Express)
Spurs boss Juande Ramos has already lost Robbie Keane to Liverpool last month and is almost certain to see Berbatov leave White Hart Lane in the next few days. He has lined up Magpies striker Michael Owen as a possible replacement and the former Real Madrid front man may be interested in a fresh start away from Newcastle.
I personally feel Owen will be very interested in a move to the North London club. His time at Newcastle has simply been rotten, what with injury and indeed poor form so a clean slate at Spurs may appeal to him. I think Kevin Keegan will do everything he can to hold onto the 28-year old but in the end he will accept a bid of about £12 million for the England international.
