Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre is on the brink of a £750,000 move to Sunderland. The French defender has struggled for a first team place at Old Trafford in recent months due to the terrific form of fellow countryman Patrice Evra.
The 31-year old has spent over nine years at the club, making 250 appearances in the process. He announced his international retirement back in 2007 after earning 40 caps in his career. It would appear no that Sunderland boss Roy Keane has seen off interest from Celtic and Manchester City for Silvestre signature.
I personally think Silvestre could prove to be a decent signing for the Black Cats. He has bags of exprience in the Premier League and could prove to be a bargain at £750,000. I feel it is best for Silvestre to get on with playing first team football every week because there is no point just sitting on the bench every week, or in Silvestre's case, not even on the bench.
