Arsenal and Man Utd both earn 2-1 victories

Arsenal and Man United both earned 2-1 victories against Ajax and Benfica, respectivly. Man United have alot to owe Ruud Van Nistelrooy for scoring the winner just 6 minutes from time. Arsenal gave a battleing performance to win in Amsterdam against Ajax with goals from Freddie Ljunberg and a Robert Pires penalty. Man United took the lead 39 minutes in when a Ryan Giggs free kick was deflected by a Benfica player in the wall. But Benfica came back strongly and scored on 59 minutes with a goal from Portugese international Simao. But United got the winner 6 minutes from time when Ruud Van Nistelrooy tap in from close range. Final score Man United 2-1 Benfica.

Arsenal took the lead just 2 minutes in when a ball was played through by Jose Antonio Reyes to Freddie Ljungberg and he dinked it over the Ajax keeper. Arsenal went two ahead on 68 minutes when Reyes was brought down in the box and Robert Pires steppped up and hit it right down the middle. Ajax got a consalation goal just 2 minutes later when a spectaculor shot by Ajax Tomas Galasek rebounded of the post and Markus Rosenberg was there to tap in. Final score Ajax 1-2 Arsenal.

Good results for both Arsenal and Man United because United hadn't won in four games in a row so it was good they got out of that habit and it was a great result for Arsenal because they were away to a very tough side and they managed to win.
