Wenger promised cash

Good news for Arsenal fans because manager Arsene Wenger has been promised money to spend in the transfer window, should he want to, after the club's annual accounts were published. The club's pre-tax profits for the last financial year rose from £10.6m to £19.3m, with debts, largely caused by the new stadium, rising to £153.3m. "They are a very solid set of results," said managing director Keith Edelman. "There are sufficient funds available. Arsene has always been an astute buyer and a successful manager."

Wenger at the new Emirates stadium

The new Emirates stadium has cost the Gunners more than £94million during the year to 31 May, adding to the debt, but this has been offset by a big increase in the club's cash reserves from £17.6m to £63.1m. The football business had a turnover of £115.1m, with other income compensating for a fall in broadcasting revenue. Arsenal confirmed that the move to their new 60,000-seater stadium at Ashburton Grove would go ahead as planned for next season.Edelman also said fans should not feel alarmed by the size of the club's debts.

Edelman added that he had full confidence in Wenger not to waste the budget he had available."He is not a frivolous manager, who if he has got £10m or £15m will just say 'I have got to buy a player'," he said. "Arsene always buys the right type of player at the right time, and we leave those judgements to him, because he is very good at it."

I believe Wenger deserves this money to bring in new players because of what he has done for the club, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a new midfielder at Highbury in January to replace former captain Patrick Vieira. Wenger has made some great signings in his time at Arsenal and wheter or not he can make another one in January is another question. I am looking forward to seeing Arsenal play in their new stadium next season (not that I support them) because it sure has cost alot of money
