Latics keen on Pep

Wigan manager Paul Jewell has today said that he would be intrested in bringing former Barcelona ace Josep Guardiola to the JJB Stadium. Guardiola is a free agent after leaving Qatar-based club Al-Ahli at the end of last season. Guardiola is looking to revive his career in Europe and has already had a trial with Manchester City but City would only offer him a six month contract.

Guardiola would consider a move to Wigan

Wigan could offer him a longer term deal, and Jewell believes the holding midfielder could bring valuble quality and experience to his rookie Premiership outfit. "I have spoken to Pep and I was very impressed that he knew so much about us," Jewell stated. "His experience would be a help to us."

Guardiola was a great player in his days at Barcelona but wheter or not he still has got that great player in him is another question. If Guardiola still has half the player in him that he used to then this would be a good signing for Wigan, and it would also be good because he is a free agent and they don't have to pay anything.
